I would give them a 1, but the staff is decent overall. The place has a great selection, that can’t be denied. They give decent trade credit as well. The biggest two problems are that almost nothing is organized and at least half of their stuff (including ALL of their comics) isn’t priced, so getting checked out can take forever and you don’t know what you might potentially spend until you get to the counter. On top of that, they claim to use “several” websites for pricing comics, and whatever sites they use are almost always ridiculously overpriced. As I said, the staff is pretty decent and the selection is great, but there are many much better organized places to go. If they’d get a couple people to organize and price things, they could be amazing.
Have been in this store twice and was very unhappy. The first time I went in I bought a few videos was going to buy more but I could have bought the same video for the same amount of money as a "used" copy. The next time I went in there I was looking for a certain book which they had but when I asked how much I was told 9.99. I turned the book over and they wanted more money than the book originally sold for which was 7.99. They had another book that was the same price 7.99 new and their sticker was 11.99 for a used book. I will be sharing this information with everyone I know. I miss Mr. K's!!!!!!!!!!!
Best place to get all your gaming needs (especially Warhammer 40k!) settled in one place. Video games, electronic repairs, board games, books, commics, card games, and collectables!
This was my first time at McGuire's. I left the store feeling very confused and upset. They seem to have the gaming merchandise organized and somewhat priced appropriately. However, the books are an entirely different scenario. I understand that they just opened their doors at the new location. I love to search through old/used books, but what I don't like to do is dig around moldy books, and that is what McGuire's is full of. So people with allergies, stay away. The books were very much unorganized and a great deal of them should have been sent to be recycled. However, while there - my son found a book that had been taped up and was in overall bad condition, but he was interested in it so I told him he could have it. It didn't have a price tag on it, but I assumed it would be under $10 dollars due to its condition. When we get to the register the young man working starts searching ( 15 minutes of searching ) on his computer for comparable pricing on the book. He got on Amazon and Ebay and said that he is seeing it go for around $65 dollars online!! He then assumed we didn't want it because of what he was going to charge for it and placed it behind him. It was a giant waste of our time. The potential is there, but I am not sure the proper foundation has been built for this to happen.
When it comes to trading, they're less useful than game stop. They don't have prices on most items and the staff is not that helpful either. Will not be going back and will be telling everyone I know strongly not to even go in.
