Dodson's representative who arranged for us to make a move from Seymour, TN to McHenry MS did a very good job, and we were very happy with everything until we had to wait two weeks for our furniture to be delivered to our new home. After delivery was made we were short three medium size containers containing one small oven, many ladies shoes, and sever other items which they could not find after our inquiry concerning this matter. We were not given a list of merchandise to check off as items were unloaded, they just began bringing and stacking our items and we were not allowed to check them off as we were told would be done, so if you don't mind losing a few items, then go ahead and use Dodson!!!
We recently had Dodson's Moving & Storage affiliated with Atlas Van Lines move our belongings from Knoxville, TN to Oregon. It was the worst moving experience we have ever been through...and we've moved a lot. Not only did Dodson's move our furniture and belongings but also transported my new BMW car in their truck. When our stuff arrived in Oregon all of the boxes were crushed and many were torn open which was odd because we had purchased all new boxes with Uhaul. Everything glass was shattered, and we packed properly using bubble wrap. They took no care of our belongings and just shoved boxes in the truck where they would fit. Not only was all of our furniture and belongings damaged or broken but my BMW had huge scratches on it and the roof was dented in due to the driver (Ruly) not strapping the car down. The estimate to repair the damages to my car was $3500. We settled our claim with Atlas and they ended up owing us more than $5000 in damages and broken belongings. Clearly, I would never recommend Dodson's Moving & Storage. They are extremely unprofessional and show no care in your personal property.
SALESMAN SHOULD BE FIRED. If you decide to use this company do not let Doug into your house. The salesman will tell you exactly what he thinks you want to hear. My family moved to Texas in August of 2011 and we were thinking of moving ourselves and wanted a second option. Upon hearing my budget Doug found ways to get us thinking that using Dodson's would be a good option. Doug visited and estimated our total weight twice. He was off by 50% which raised our bill by over $3000, which of course was well over our budget. Of course he said, "well it was just an estimate" this is completely unacceptable, we forced the issue with Atlas and they were just as bad. As a former mover I will give credit to the actual truck driver for a job well done but I would suggest you use anybody EXCEPT Atlas and NEVER call Dodson's. If I could rate this company with a negative I would.
We moved locally with Dodsons Moving, located in Oak Ridge, TN, in April 2009. We moved all small items in boxes we had packed. Dodsons only moved furniture and large items. The move went smoothly - and only one item of furniture was damaged...a bed headboard had been scratched in several places. After five calls over three months to company representatives stating I wanted to make a claim, including calls to the Knoxville office, I finally received a "claim form", which I quickly completed and mailed back. Since that time I have made four more calls about the status of the claim form. It is now a year later and still Dodsons has done NOTHING to resolve this simple matter! I would never use them again or recommend them to anyone.
